Did you make any resolutions this year? How’s it going so far? By now, many of us have completely forgotten about those New Year’s intentions and have fallen back into the same old routine.
Today’s Journalution Prompt is an attempt to get you out of that ‘same-old-same-old’ thing and into something a little more fun and faaaaabulous ~ sound good?
Great! Let’s go! At the top of a blank piece of paper write “My List of FUN”
Now, set a timer or look at the clock and for 10 minutes write as fast as you can, without editing, all the fun things you love. Don’t think! Just Write. Don’t judge, don’t give yourself time to wonder if ‘that’s not fun’ or ‘that’s not a good idea’ or even ‘that’s stupid’. Just let the thoughts fly onto the page as fast as your brain can spit them out.
The trick here is to turn off that inner critic, the one that judges every single thing you write. Just ignore your chattering mind and write anything and everything you think is fun. Big things and little things. M&M’s with peanuts, bubble baths, a great pedicure, swinging in the park with my head upside down, staring at the clouds, a really great book, snowboarding, fresh sheets, fabulous shoes, playing guitar, rockin’ on stage in front of thousands, 1 whole hour with nothing and no one waiting on me to do something! These are just a few ideas to get you started.
When your ten minutes is complete, survey your list of FUN. What can you do tomorrow? What needs a little more planning?
Your mission,( if you choose to accept it) is to pick one thing per week and give yourself that FUN! One thing, every single week. Some weeks it will be something big, others it will be something very simple. A really good cup of coffee in the morning, a piece of rich, decadent chocolate. When you do this, you will find that even the simple things will take on more meaning, more significance, because you will approach them with INTENTION.
And bringing intention to your everyday life is what having a really incredible and amazing New Year is all about!
