I have a ritual that I look forward to every year. I'm one of those people who tends to move onto 'what's next' before I've taken the time to enjoy my accomplishments. This year has been an exciting year and I've learned that a big part of creating more joy in my life comes from celebrating every moment and milestone, before I move onto the next challenge or goal.
So before you make a list of resolutions for the New Year or goals for the next few years, let's take a moment to reflect and celebrate all that you've done this year. (If you've never done this, then you get to go back and list LOTS of great things you've done!)
Begin by writing at the top of a blank page in your journal "Look What I Did This Year!" Then review your journal, calendars, iPhones and blackberry's for the big and little things that you accomplished this year. Coming up with that great idea or inspiration, moving forward toward a big goal, getting through an emotional challenge or relationship, taking your child someplace special, cleaning out your closet or just getting a little bit clearer about who you are and what you are creating in your life.
This list will make you realize how much you've grown this year and in the years past. It's a feeling of "look how far I've come". I want you to take a few moments and look at your life through a larger lense and begin to appreciate all the lives you touch and how much you do. Of course there's always more to be done and you will have lots of new ideas that you want to put into place next year- but take this time to celebrate all that you've accomplished and how wise you are right now, this moment.
Give yourself a toast *Cheers!* and know that all that you are right now... is just perfect.
